Aiken Fans Plan Festivities
OMWH To Feature Originals
NEW YORK, April 4 (UPI) -- U.S. pop singer Clay Aiken is gearing up to release his fourth album, "On My Way Here," next month, RCA Records announced Friday.
The latest CD from the former "American Idol" contender is to be released May 6. It is his first album of original songs since his 2003 double-platinum debut, "Measure of a Man."
Aiken's single, "On My Way Here," is to premiere Monday as an AOL First Listen.
"I thought if we could find songs that relate to what's gone on in my life over the past five years and address what I've learned from my experiences, it would be a great concept for my album," Aiken said in a statement. "Since I got into this business, I've learned so much about myself. I think this album covers how far I've come, personally and professionally."
Once Friday's official news release for Clay Aiken's upcoming CD On My Way Here hit United Press International, it vaulted through global media sites at lightening speed.
AOL First Listen no doubt received lots of weekend hits as CA fans made sure all systems were "go" for Monday's premiere of "On My Way Here," lead single of the new album. NOTE: Be patient. Toggle the "pause" to "play." The song is so worth the listen(s) and is already a leader among the "most commented" on the Popeater page.
Especially for the international fans “out of zone” for AOL First Listen, here are three options to hear Clay’s lead single: link to his My Space page where OMWH is playing; download this Sendspace, OMWH mp3; or listen to the song on YouTube, OMWH on YT.
Many versions of the official press release referenced ClayAiken.com, Clay's official website, which recently received a handsome update.
May 6 is circled on the calendars of longtime Clay Nation members and newcomers alike. Many of Clay's new fans have enrolled because of his spectacular "Spamalot" performances on Broadway. Stage door crowds greeting the singer after Shubert Theatre shows are regularly estimated in the hundreds.
Registration and plans for festivities are underway at the CD Release Party Board, which coordinates May 5-6 activities worldwide.
Great, Long Ride Ahead
In Nashville for a fair managers meeting, DeepSouthGurrl reported a very interesting incident. Due to inclement weather, she declined her group's invitation to go "honky tonking" after dinner. A friend teased that she probably wanted to return to her room to get the latest Clay Aiken news.
To which several people asked, "Who's Clay Aiken?"
Before I could answer, an older gentleman sitting with us smiled at me and said, "I know who he is." He then said, "Let me tell y'all a story."
He proceeded to tell a story from years ago when he was a young man trying to get a group to go with him to hear a young singer he was crazy about. When they wanted to know who and he told them his name, everyone's response was, "Who's Elvis Presley?"
He patted my hand and said for me not to worry, that I won't have to answer this question much longer. He said Clay Aiken has the same charisma and great talent as a young Elvis Presley. "Hold on. You're going on a great and long ride."

Graphic, Montage Take Look Back
Eye on the Future, an animated design by Cindilu2, visually traces the singer's CD's and provides a befitting link for Jen920's montage, Clay Aiken - Ever Ever After celebrating Clay's career and charitable endeavors of the past five years.

Accompanying the montage at YouTube are Michael W. Smith's "Place in This World," "Broadway" sung by Diana Krall, "A Star Is Born" from the movie Hercules, and "Ever Ever After" from the movie Enchanted sung by Carrie Underwood."
Another look back from this past weekend was the “BeeGees/Top 4” show on American Idol 2 Rewind. In case you missed this edition, here is a Sendspace of the Clay Segments, during which he sang “To Love Somebody” and “Grease.”
Family of Friends Gather 'Round
Sally, a very special friend I met through the CA fandom, is also known to many as an outstanding photographer, graphic artist, and teacher. She and her son are currently undergoing major health issues on opposite coasts.
Many fans are offering support by lighting candles for Sally at the Gratefulness site. If you would like to add your message, here is the link: GASal. A candle only lasts 48 hours, but a new one can be relit.
Besides the photo-graphic that led the previous blog entry, Sally is known in this corner for her delightful designs from pictures of my grandson Kai. The above clickable, shot in her own yard, is appropriately tagged "Shelter," a lovely description of what we offer her today.
