with songs by Clay Aiken

9-11: a Day of Remembrance

In memory of the senseless devastation and tragic loss of lives in America eight years ago today.

To the survivors of loved ones lost in the 9/11/01 terrorist invasion, know that America remembers. This country also pays tribute to the brave men and women whose heroic actions saved lives in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington, DC.

"Grace of God" and "It's in Everyone of Us" by Clay Aiken are featured in the 9-11-01 Tribute Montage, which also can be viewed at YouTube.

Thank you to jmh123 for bringing the story of a professional photographer who died taking pictures when the second tower fell. In the aftermath, some of Bill Biggart's digital photos were recovered via his camera's memory card.

You can read the story here:

God Bless America
From Remembrance Flag

I wasn't in the habit of turning on the TV that early; but, for some reason, I was watching the TODAY Show that fateful morning. I remember with horror and disbelief as I watched the terrorists' planes fly into the twin towers and the terrible aftermath we witnessed in real time the rest of that day.

Where were you on 9/11 eight years ago? Share your remembrances in the comments below. Here is a double clickable of the God Bless America grapic:

We will never forget September 11, 2001. God bless America!

I was watching it too; a terrible tragedy for the victims, their families, and our nation.

So many lives have been lost in the aftermath as well. Very, very, sad.

Yollie's 9-11 montage with Clay Aiken's beautiful songs is so very touching.

I was on my way to work when the news came on the radio. I couldn't believe what I heard---at work I turned on the TV, and there it was in all the horror of it to see.
We kept that TV on for 3 days.

Canada had flags lowered to half staff for our American friends. A very sad time.

It's been so busy this week but I will never forget Sept. 11, 2001. We had moment of silence at work to commemorate this tragic event. My prayers go out for the victims & families. Last August, I had the opportunity of seeing ground zero & it brought tears.

The 9-11 montage is beautiful! Thanks so much Caro for giving this very special tribute.

I was having a pretty crappy day, feeling sorry for myself. Then I came home and watched this video of 9-11. I thank God for all I have, good and not so great!

My 2 sons recall being at school that day, 8th and 9th grades. For the first time everyone came together to pray, all genders, all religions, race, gang members, sports jocks, nerds, disabled, teachers, parents. They all held hands and prayed! It was a sad and yet amazing day on how Americans can come together, United We Stand!!

Thanks to Caro and all the others for their hard work on the videos and blogs.
God Bless to all!
Sharrie

Beautiful montage by Yollie; perfect songs to make a statement
of what happened to all Americans personally on that horrific day.

When I was in NYC in 2004 (non-Clay related), at 1am-2am I visited Ground Zero (I chose that time so I could feel my heartache without others, and my soul weeped).

The last two remnants of the towers (two large beams) were fastened into the shape of a cross; tears flowed.

Thank you for such an overwhelming, heartfelt blog.

I will never forget that day. I was watching the Today Show. Something I didn't normally do.The reason I did that day was that we had taken our middle son to the airport early that morning for a flight back to Georgia. We didn't hear from him till late that night. He was safe, but very tired.Thank God! Clay's song but for the Grace of God go I is so very fitting.

My Prayers and thoughts to the Victims, their Families, Friends and the Nation.

It was a day that no American living on this planet at the time will ever forget. Sometimes I measure my life in terms of before and after.

This was a beautifully compiled tribute to the ongoing hope Caro!
